BAXTER — Billy Gene Jenkins, 57, of Baxter died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

No services are scheduled. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Jim Jenkins, 6613 Highway F48 W., Newton 50208.

The son of Bill George and Frances Meadows Jenkins, he was born April 11, 1948, in Newton. He was a construction worker.

Survivors include a daughter, Ali Penning; two sisters, Sara Preston of Myrtle Beach, Calif., and Robin Smith of Newton; and two brothers, Jim Jenkins of Newton and Frosty Dean Smith of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Frosty Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
