Eighty-seven Years Old
Mr. John R Lamb, our honored fellow townsman, reached his eight-seventh birthday last Monday, July 23rd. In honor of the day, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Holmes, with whom he makes his home, invited a company of old friends to come to spend the afternoon with him. As Mr. Lamb is so crippled he cannot get out but a very little and many hours are lonely thus shut in. That day, however, was full of cheer and companionship and one long to be remembered. During the afternoon Mrs. Holmes served ice cream and cake and fruit. The guests present were: Mrs. Caleb Lamb, Mrs. Richard Lamb, Samuel Veach and wife, Fred Eaton and wife, Thomas Kennedy and wife, Wm. Henning Sr. and wife, Mrs. King, Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Hans Arbs, Mrs. Robert Gibson and daughter, Mrs. M. McKeever and two daughters, Mrs. De Ruse and two children and Mrs. Will Rivers and two children.
