This story below is part wrong I believe.
MENDENHALL, Sarah, Mrs.
Farmer; Sec. 1; P. O. Lynnville; owns 200 acres, being a part of the MENDENHALL estate of 930 acres, valued at $28,000; born in Clinton Co., Ohio, April 10, 1815; moved to Hendricks Co., Ind., with his mother (his father being dead) in 1834; here she married Temple MENDENHALL Jan. 20, 1835; he was born in North Carolina, and died Dec. 14, 1874, in his 68th year; from Hendricks Co., they moved to this county in 1859, where the family have since resided. (twins) resides with their mother. Elisha resides on Sec. 1, was born in Hendricks Co., Ind., I 1838; came to this county in 1848; came to this county with parents, where he has since resided; Jeremiah also resides on Sec. 1, and was born in the same county in 1848; came to this county with his parents; married Gulie E. HODSON in Indiana in 1874; she is a native of Indiana; they have one child, and infant not named; Allen resides on Sec. 1 and was born Aug. 20, 1843, in Hendricks Co., Ind. The family are members of the Society of Friends. ~ "Lynn Grove Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)The Part that says Temple moved with his mother to Indiana after the father died. Its wrong. I found proof of his Father "Richard Mendenhall died and buried in Lynn Grove now Lynnville, Iowa. He is buried in one of the 13 Plots and my 2nd great grandfather Temple bought. There is even a Mortality Schedule That said Richard 85 died of Pnuemonia after 7 days in December 1859 in Lynn Grove. His burial plot is listed in the cemetery records and I have a picture of that page. I think that grandma Polly Clemmons Mendenhall may have died in Hendricks county, Indiana. No proof though. I do not know where someone came up with the year of 1834? but If I remember correctly. Polly " Temples Mother" is not on the census after that year.
Sincerely,
Meagan McCauley
