Rev. and Mrs. Ray Davis Farewell Reception

Honored at Farewell Reception

Rev. and Mrs. Ray Davis

About 175 members and friends of the United Presbyterian Church met Thursday evening at the church to honor Rev. and Mrs. Ray Davis who are leaving the Newton church. Rev. Davis will preach his last sermon here Sunday and they plan to move to their new home at College Springs Tuesday.

Tim J. Campbell Sr., on behalf o the congregation, presented a purse of money to Rev. and Mrs. Davis and Rev. Davis spoke a few words of appreciation.

Loren Loupee, chairman of the congregation, was over-all chairman. Mrs. Homer Denniston and Mr. George Hill were general chairmen of the reception.

Music during the evening was provided by Miss Arlys Van Zee and Mrs. Edgar Sabin.

The basement was attractively decorated with a profusion of fall flowers by Mesdames Wilbur Van Zomeran, Ruth Harris, and A. B. Shepherd.

Presiding at the tea table were mesdames J. C. Hill, Clarence Wilson and Walter Heki.

Hostesses were Mesdames Tim J. Campbell Sr., Bryant Denniston, Loren Loupee, Benjamin Davis, Tom Hill, Lloyd Lane, Paul Guffy and Blanche Christensen.

Virginia Van Zee and Jane Hill presided at the guest book. ~ Newspaper unknown, but probably the Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa.
