Secret Wedding Announced
On July 5th, 1930 Miss Anna Dop and John Nelson were married at Algona, Iowa and had kept the wedding a secret until the past week when it was announced to their relatives and friends.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. H. Dop and the bridal couple were accompanied at their marriage by Mrs. Evelyn Thompson, a sister of the groom.
Mrs. Nelson wore an orchid georgette dress and the groom wore the conventional dark suit.
Following the announcement of the wedding a reception was given in their honor at the home of Mrs. G. Dop, Wednesday evening October 1st.
A two course lunch was served following congratulations to the following who were guests: Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Dop and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Willemsen and children, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Dop and children, Mr. and Mrs. John Dop and son, Mr. and Mrs. Con Dop and children, Ralph Dop, Sam Dop, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Espervold.
The young couple were the recipients of many beautiful gifts.
On Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. John Dop were hosts at a miscellaneous shower for Mr. and Mrs. Nelson.
Many useful gifts were received and dainty refreshments were served by the hosts.
The guest list included Mr. and Mrs. Mickey Crum, the Misses Jeanette Rouwenhorst, Sarah Den Otter, Winifred Porter and Joezina Meindertsma and the Messers Garret Tilma, Orville Masters, Jake Uttermark, Pete Meindertsma, Ralph Dop and Sam Dop.
