Failor Scoffs At Reports On Amelia’s Radio
Francis Failor, Newton seed store manager, scoffed today at newspaper articles he had read inferring that Amelia Earhart could not operate the radio of the airplane lost in the wilderness of the Pacific Ocean unless the motors of the plane were functioning.
Failor should know.
He helped install the radio.
The Newton man spent last winter working in the radio division of the electrical department in the Lockheed Airplane company factory of Los Angeles, Cal. On several occasions he talked with Miss Earhart while the big plane was being equipped.
The radio he helped install in the plane now floundering somewhere in the Pacific operates from a 12 volt battery, completely independent of the motors which propel the craft, he declares.
Failor plans to return to work at the airplane factory next fall.
