Born – June 22nd, 1889, a boy [John Ellis], to Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hitchler.Mrs. E. Emmack [Georgia Miller Emmack], of this place is visiting at Rev . Price’s, of Colfax, this week.
There was quite a disappointment at Metz Sunday night, on account of Rev. Younkin’s absence.
Miss McMurray, of Newton, closed a successful term of school, last Friday, at Metz.
Mrs. Chas. Trip, of Kansas, who has been visiting friends here, returned home to day.
Mr. Mansfield Hickman, of Colfax, was home over Sunday.
Miss. Almeda Cannon, of this place, intends to spend the Fourth with her sister, Mrs. Ed. Grisswell, of Brooklyn, Iowa. ~ Newton Journal, Wed. July 3, 1889, page 3, column 9
