The Vows Plighted

Mr. Ernest Finch and Miss Myrtle Killduff were married, just as the invitations announced that they woud be, last Wednesday evening, at the bride’s home in north Newton. About fifty or sixty guests were present to witness the interesting ceremony. The beautiful bride was tastefully dressed in cream colored, wool trimmed with silk lace and insertion and satin ribbon. It was made with round waist and short skirt. In her dark hair was placed a white rose, and she carried in her hand a bouquet of bride’s roses. Altogether she made a charming picture. “Ernie” as he is familiarly called, was dressed in the style that custom decrees for grooms, severe and elegant.

Rev. C. C. Harrah tied the nuptial knot and Miss Belle Benjamin played the wedding march. At the large window in front of which they stood were massed a profusion of potted plants, and the window itself was prettily draped with strands of smilax.

An elegant supper was served to the guests by the caterers, George Tennant and wife. The tables were artistically adorned with smilax and loose flowers. The presents were handsome, most of them chosen with a view to adorn or give comfort to the new cottage home to which Mr. and Mrs. Finch repaired that same evening, and are not “at home” to their friends. ~ The Newton Journal 10-9-1895.
