Married - At the home of Uriah Hinshaw, in Kellogg township, Jan. 23rd, Fred M. Evans and Verdie A. Hinshaw, Rev. I. O. Kemble officiating.

A large number assembled to witness the event and to enjoy the festivities of the occasion. The house was filled to overflowing and promptly at eight Rev. Kemble entered the room followed by Mr. Chas. Flory and Miss Dell Evans-the groom’s man and bride’s maid, and Fred and Verdie, who took their place under an evergreen arch, Miss Lillie Miller playing the wedding march. Mr. Kemble in a short and impressive ceremony pronounced them man and wife for “better or worse.” Congratulations from a host of friends and relatives followed in which all wished them a long life, filled with all the blessings that this earth can bring.

A bounteous feast was served, and if Fred and his wife can always fare as their guests were served at their wedding, they will never want. Mr. and Mrs. Evans will, for the present, make their home with Fred’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Evans of this city, where they are at home to their friends.

On Thursday evening an “infair” reception was given at the pleasant home of Mr. and Mrs. David Evans-between seventy-five and one hundred being present-composed wholly of relatives and intimate friends. Of course Fred, the only son of the household and his handsome young bride were the center of attraction, and received gracefully the showers of good wishes lavished upon them by their admiring friends. There was an utter lack of the cold formalities so usual to such occasions; the cordial reception accorded by Mr. and Mrs. Evans and every member of the household, inspired the guests, and made the evening’s enjoyment all it should be. Refreshments rich and bountiful were served, followed by music and song, games, etc., until the hour for separation came, when all departed carrying with them the pleasantest recollection of the evening.

Those present from out of town were, Mr. and Mrs. Hinshaw, the bride’s parents and their family, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hammer, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Livingston and Miss cooper; Will and Ella Bateman, of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Springer and Aunt Sade Boswell, of Oskaloosa; Mr. and Mrs. Ellis McConnaughey, of Prairie City. The following is the list of presents;
