Mated – There was a merry jingle of wedding bells in Palo Alto Township last Wednesday evening and the pleasant home of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Fales fairly resounded with their joyous music. A large company of the friends of Miss Della Fales, from home and abroad, had assembled to witness her marriage to Mr. Henry P. Metz, one of Jasper County’s best young men. The bridesmaid and groomsman were Miss Amelia Metz and Mr. Reason Logan-the wedding party making a fine appearance as they entered the parlor keeping step to a wedding march executed by Miss Birdie Goodhue. The ceremony was performed by Rev. C. J. Lotz, pastor of the German M. E. Church, of this city.

Congratulations, feasting, music and general good cheer followed, and continued until the departure of the guests. The JOURNAL joins in the general good wishes for the happiness of Mr. and Mrs. Metz. A large number of elegant gifts were presented the young couple-many of them of a character that will prove very useful as well as ornamental in the home over which they will be called to preside after the close of their honeymoon.

They left next morning on the 10:45 train for Des Moines, and after spending a few days at the Capital City, the bride, as one of Jasper County’s teachers, will return and finish her winter term of school near Horn, Iowa, and hereafter be at home to her friends. ~ The Newton Journal, January 2, 1889.
