Mr. and Mrs. J. M. McQuiston Observe 65th Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. McQuiston celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Monday, March 8th. They were wed at Mankato, Kansas on March 8th, 1883 but have spent the greater portion of their life in Iowa with Colfax their home.
Mr. McQuiston will be 93 years old on March 18th and Mrs. McQuiston 87 on April 9th of this year. They are in fairly good health in spite of their years, and though unable to do the cooking and housework they are up and about every day, go to the table for their meals and take a personal interest in the current happenings of their neighborhood and the community.
While no special celebration was planned they received many cards, some flowers, candy and gifts from relatives and friends and several who remembered the date as their wedding anniversary called.
Besides their three daughters, Mrs. Mary Goodman of Madrid, Mrs. M. A. (Hazel) Binkerd of Colfax, Mrs. Jessie Sharp of Yakima, Washington, and five sons, Charles and Bob McQuiston of Colfax, Ernest of Delta, Colo., Nick of Yakima, Wash., and Will of Cedar Rapids, they have 26 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren who are their pride and joy. They mourn the loss of two sons by death.
The couple are to be congratulated on their long, successful and happy wedded life together, the rearing of a fine family and their lifetime of good citizenship.
