ANDERSON, John W.
Dry Goods, Groceries, Boots and Shoes, south side of square, Greencastle; born in Hampshire Co., Va. in 1821; came to Des Moines Co., Iowa in 1837, and to this county in 1853. Owns his store and residence and ten acres of timber. He married Miss Urbana LEE in 1847. She was born in Henry Co., Ind. in 1828; died in Greencastle March 19, 1876, leaving five children - Charles W., John M., Elizabeth S., Cassius R. and Lois V. Republican; member of the M. E. Church; belong to Des Moines Annual Conference, having preached the Gospel for twenty-five years in Iowa, but lost his health.
