BAIN, John R.
Farmer; Sec. 23; P. O. Reasonor; born in Washington Co., N. Y., in 1828; came to Morrow Co., Ohio, in 1853; thence to this county in 1855; has 142 ¼ acres of land, valued at $40 per acre. Married Rachel LIVINGSTON in 1854; she was born in Lisbon, Ohio, in 1831; they have three children-Seneca W., Frank L. and Freeman G. Republican. Mr. BAIN was the first Township Clerk and Trustee elected in this township; was elected when the whole township was Democratic except himself. He enlisted in the 40trh Iowa V. I., under Capt. SENNET as musician; participated in the taking of Little Rock; was with Gen. BANKS on the Red River campaign; was mustered out at Davenport, Iowa, in July, 1865.
