SCOTT, S. O.
Farmer and stock raiser; Sec. 21; P. O. Prairie City; born in Harrison Co., Ohio, Dec. 1, 1826; came to this county in 1872; has 160 acres of land, valued at $5,000. Held the offices of Town Trustee, Assessor and School Treasurer. Married E. M. KENNEDY, born in Mifflin Co., Penn., Nov. 24, 1832; mother of six children, three living-Edgar F., Harry C., George K.; lost three children infancy. His parents emigrated from Ohio when he was 9 years old to West Virginia; lived there three years; thence to Scott Co., Iowa; lived there thirty-six years; then to Jasper Co., where he has resided since. There was only one house in Davenport at the time they went to Scott Co.; was there at the time Col. DAVENPORT was killed; knew the man that was first arrested for the murder, a man of the name Charles BUDD; his father was amongst the earliest settlers of the county; was there before the county was laid out into sections; his grandfather on his mother's side was in the Revolutionary war.
