HAWN, Augustus
Farmer; S. 36; P. O. Newton; born in Ohio Sept. 30, 1842. Married Mary Ann MUNN in Jasper Co., Iowa in 1877. She was boen in Missouri in 1861. He has eighty acres of land and two acres of timber, valued at $30 per acre. He moved to Iowa in 1868; settled and improved his farm, and built his house and set out an orchard, etc. He enlisted in the 12th Ind. V. I. in Aug. 1862; was taken prisoner at Richmond, Ky., and paroled in the field; was in the army of Tennessee; was in Gen Sherman's march to the sea; was in the battles of Richmond, Ky., Jackson, Miss., Mission Ridge, Dalton, Resaca, Griswellville, Kenesaw Mountain, Savannah, Atlanta, and all the principal engagements and several skirmishes; was discharged with his regiment at the close of the war.
