STUVER, A. S.
Attorney and Justice of the peace, office east side public square. He was born 5 Jan 1842 in Northampton Co., PA. In 1849 he came to Summitt Co., OH, and in 1866 removed to Christian Co., IL. While there he followed surveying and in 1868 came to Newton, Iowa, where he commenced reading law with WINSLOW & WILSON, and in 1872 commenced the practice of his profession. He enlisted in 1861 in Co. I, 115th O. V. I. and served to the end of the war. He was County Surveyor from 1872 to 1874. He married Josephine HOUGH in 1872. She was born in 1847 in Loudon Co, VA.
