SITLER, J.R.
Farmer, Sec. 30, owns 120 acres valued at $3,500. He was born in Crawford Co., PA 18 May 1832. He enlisted in the 2nd Penn. V. C., Co I on 6 Oct 1861 as a private, but was soon promoted to First Lieutenant. He was engaged in the battle of Lena, Bull Run, Rapidan River, Gettysburg and the Wilderness. At the latter place he was taken prisoner and held till the following March when he was paroled. Being very much reduced by ill treatment he was sent to Annapolis Hospital where he remained till 16 May 1865, when he was mustered out by general order. He then returned to Pennsylvania and in 1867 moved to this county, settling where he now lives. He married Miss C. M. SPAULDING in Michigan, February 1864. She was a native of Ashtabula Co., Oh, and died in October 1876, aged 40 years. Their children are Harry and Anna.
