McCORD, Thomas T.
Dealer in livestock, firm of M. A. McCord & Co. He was born 27 Sep 1833 in Johnson Co., IN. When an infant, he came with parents to Edgar Co. Il, and on 17 Oct 1855 came to Jasper Co., Iowa. He engaged in farming and stock raising. He enlisted in 1862 in Co. K, 28th Iowa V. I. He served in that regiment fourteen months, then was promoted to Captain in the 93 Colored Infantry, and served till the end of the war. He was in the battles of Port Gibson, Champion Hills, Vicksburg and others. He married Margaret HILL March 12 1857. She was born 22 Jun 1834 in Hamilton Co., OH, and died 24 Apr 1864. They have four children--Mary E. (now Mrs. George FAILOR), Edgar E., Lillie J., and Emma E. Second marriage to Elizabeth CAMPBELL 14 Dec 1865. She was born 28 Dec 1833 in Orange Co., IN. They have one child--Hiber C. They are members of the Presbyterian Church.
