King, W. H. I.
billiard hall, opposite Clifton House; he was born Sept. 22, 1833, in Butler Co., Penn.; in 1844, came to Ashland Co., Ohio; engaged in ashery business till 1848, when he came to Henry Co., Ohio; in 1854, came to Scott Co., Iowa, and engaged in wagon making; in 1867, removed to Newton; he owns his residence in the city, also his billiard hall and tables. Married Mary E. Evans in 1858; she was born August 30, 1828, in Beaver Co., Penn.; have five children - Permelia, born Oct. 23, 1859; Julia A., Sept 12, 1862; Margaret, Feb. 25, 1864; Alice V., Oct. 27, 1867, and George W., April 27, 1869; Carrie L. and Clarrisa L., born Dec. 23, 1860; Carrie L. died Jan. 17, 1861; Clarrisa L. died March 1, 1862; Leanor E., born Dec. 24, 1865, died June 14, 1869.~ "Newton Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
