HINTON, Constance C.
Farmer; Sec. 14; P. O. Colfax; born in Pennsylvania Dec. 23, 1837; came to Jasper Co. in 1866; has 160 acres of land, valued at $35 per acre. Married Barbara GRAHAM in 1862; she was born in Pennsylvania in Dec. 1843. They have five children - Isaac T., Rebecca, Gertrude, Charles and Gracie. Democratic; she is a member of the M. E. Church. Enlisted in the 148th Penn. V. I. in 1862; participated in the battles of Chancellorville, Lookout Mountain, Fairview, Bull Run, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Culpeper Court House, Mine Run, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor and skirmishes; mustered out at Harrisburg, Penn. in 1865. ~ "Washington Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
