HASNESS, H.
Farmer and Stock Dealer; Sec. 34; P. O. Prairie City; born in Ohio in 1837; came to Jasper County in 1863; has forty acres of land, valued at $60 per acre. Married Adeline WILSON in 1865; she was born in Illinois in 1847. They have four children - George, Charles, Carrie and Pearl. Greenbacker. Drafted, in 1864, into the 10th Iowa Infantry; skirmishing, etc.; mustered out in Washington, D. C. in 1865. Mr. Hasness has been one of the heaviest stock dealers of the county, as well as a heavy grain dealer, until within three or four years; is dealing in horses at the present time. ~ "Washington Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
