NOEL, D. W., & Co.
Grain and Lumber Dealers, Metz; this firm began business here is November 1877, and have since bought about 25,000 bushels of corn; they handle a general assortment of lumber of all grades, and are working up a fine trade. Mr. Noel is a native Iowan, born in Dallas Co., Feb. 28, 1851, and lived there until 1875, when he moved to Colfax and engaged in the lumber business, and in 1877, to Metz. His partner still continues the business in Colfax. Mr. N.'s parents moved to Dallas Co., from Indiana in the Fall of 1850, and engaged in the mercantile business. In September 1862, his father went into the army and was killed in the battle of Corinth, July 1863. Mr. N. followed teaching for seven years in Dallas Co. March 17, 1875, he married Ella HOUGHAM, who was born in Guthrie Co., Nov. 5, 1854. Her parents were among the very earliest settlers of that county. Mrs. N. died July 1, 1878; leaving two children - Don O., born Jan. 5, 1876, and Blanche, Sept. 13, 1877. Mr. N. and wife are both members of the M. E.
