KELLY, Dennis
Farmer, Sec. 19, owns ninety nine acres valued at $2,500. He was born in the parish of South Killmurry, West Muskrey, Cork Co., Ireland in 1811. He came to America in 1848, worked on the Harlem and New Haven R. R. one year then on the New York and Erie R. R., commencing at Canisteo and working to the lake. he then returned to Cattaraugus, where he remained fifteen years in the employ of Weston Brothers, lumber dealers, and in Jul 1867, came to Iowa and soon settled where he now resides. He married Margaret DUNLAY in N.Y. City 20 Feb 1849. She was born in Mount Catherine, parish of Water Grass Hill, Cork Co., Ireland. Their children are John (now residing in Waukee, Dallas Co.) Nora, Mary and Baxter (twins), and Denis. He is a Greenbacker and Catholic. ~ "Newton Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
