HOUSEL, C. J.
Jeweler and watchmaker, corner Main and Spring streets, residence south half of sub-lot 18, between Spring and Olive streets. He was born 1 Sep 1818, in Milton, PA, and in 1854 came to Newton, Iowa. He first engaged in daguerrean and jewelry business, but after a few years sold out the daguerrean business and added dentistry to his jewelry which he continued till about two years ago. He owns his residence and two and quarter acres in the city, also his store and other property in the city. He married Elizabeth MCCALMONT in 1843. She was born 1825 in PA, died in 1861 in Newton, Iowa. They had nine children, four living---Phebe, Emma, Isabella and William.
