YATES, Thomas
Farmer; Sec. 3; P. O. Newton; was born in the city of Dublin, Ireland, March 22, 1831, and came to this country in 1842, and to this county in 1871; owns eighty acres of land, valued at $15 per acre. He is a member of the Roman Catholic Church. His wife, Rose McGOVERN, was born in Ireland, in June, 1840; they were married in Nov., 1856, and have five children - Frank, born Aug. 31, 1857; Martha, Sept. 5, 1858; Rose, June 17, 1862; Jennie, Aug. 31,1866; Ellen, Jan. 28, 1871. ~ "Mariposa Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
