MEREDITH, O. C.
Attorney at law and Justice of the Peace; Lynnville; he is the son of J. H. MEREDITH, who was a native of North Carolina, and came to this county in 1858, settling two and a half miles west of this town; resided there eighteen months and then moved to town and engaged in the stock business, which he continued till his death, which occurred Jan. 26, 1876, aged 57 years. The subject of this sketch was born in Henry Co., Ind., Dec. 15, 1846; came to this county with his father in 1858, and at an early age engaged as clerk in the store of MOODY, MEREDITH & Co., of this town, in which his father held an interest; but after a few years he purchased his father's interest in the mercantile business, which he retained about a year and sold to GAUSE & MACY; he then turned his attention to the law profession and was admitted to the bar in 1877. Since Mr. M. has arrived at maturity he has been a prominent man in his township, filling nearly all the township offices in succession, and has been Justice of the Peace two years. Married Sarah L. MASTELLAS at Newton April 7, 1869; she is a native of Ohio; they have one son-Freddie E. Is a Republican, and a member of the M. E.
