NEEDHAM, Stephen
Farmer, Sec. 7., P. O. Amboy; born in Hampden Co., Mass., in 1820; located in Rock Creek Tp., this county in 1855; went into business in Newton in 1858. He enlisted in the 10th Iowa Vol. in Sept., 1861, in the regimental band; mustered out in March, 1862, by special order of the War Department. He went into the merchant tailoring business again in Newton, and continued until 1868, when he purchased a farm in Newton Tp., which he cultivated for a few years, and sold out and located in this township. He married Nancy JAINES in 1843; she was also born in Massachusetts; she died in 1858; their two children-- Frank A. and Charley O., are residents of this county. He married his present wife, Mrs. A. E. NEELY (PETTET) in 1859; have one child-- James S., born Dec.. 28, 1864. Mrs. NEEDHAM is a member of the Disciple Church; he is a Democrat.
