DAVIS, L. W.
of SAUM, DAVIS & Co. Pump manufacturers; born in Tiffin, Seneca Co., Ohio, in 1849; located in this county in 1871. Married Miss Emma V. CURRIER in 1873; they have one child-- Isaac C., born Sept. 26, 1875. Mrs. DAVIS is a member of the Baptist Church; Mr. DAVIS is a Greenbacker in politics. He owns a half interest in the property and business of SAUM DAVIS & Co., manufacturers of improved iron cylinder pumps, known favorably as the Kellogg Pump, which, by the enterprise and indefatigable exertions of these gentlemen, has become the most practical and deservedly popular pump in the country. He owns 176 acres of land, valued at $20 per acre; also residence in Kellogg, valued at $1,500, and half interest in the pump manufactory, the business of which averages $20,000 per year.~ "Kellogg Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
