WALLACE, William W.; Blacksmith and farmer; Sec. 20; P. O. Vandalia; born in Allegheny Co., Penn., Jan. 15, 1832, and came to this county in1856; owns 100 acres of land in Sec. 30, valued at $30 per acre; also a lot and residence, and one-half interest in blacksmith shop. In politics, he is a Democrat. His wife, Sarah POPE, was born in Ohio, March 21, 1841; were married Jan. 27, 1859; have one child-Eliza Jane, born Dec. 25, 1859. Mr. Wallace enlisted in Co. E, 14th I. V. I., Sept. 28, 1861; was in the battles of Fort Donelson, Shiloh, Corinth, Pleasant Hill, Louisiana; was captured there and detained as prisoner till the close of the war. ~ "The History of Jasper County" (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878), 647
