SCHULENBURG, Edward; Farmer and stock raiser; Sec. 2; born in Prussia, Germany, Aug. 26, 1822; came to this country in 1853; has 165 acres of land, valued at $8,250. Held the office of School Director and Road Supervisor. Married Sarah BROWN; she was born in McDonough Co., Ill., July 8, 1834; they have eleven living children-Nancy D. (now Mrs. C. KIPPEL), Jacob, Frederick, Elizabeth, Electa, Jane, George, Selona, Rosetta, Homer and Charlie; lost two in infancy. Emigrated from Germany when he was 27 years old, and located in New Jersey a short time, thence on canal boat to Detroit, Mich.; worked on the railroad a few days, then bought forty acres of land, about seven miles from Detroit; traded that and then went to La Fayette, Ind.; lived there three years, thence to Jasper Co., Iowa, where he has resided since; raises about 2,000 bushels of corn yearly; Mr. S. has a fine farm close to the depot, a fine house and barn, and is one of the well-to-farmers of the township. Enlisted in the 23d I. V.
