HOOVER, J. D.; Farmer, Sec. 9, P. O. Kellogg. He was born in Clearfield Co, PA in 1834 and located in this county in 1868. He married Mary E. HIRDMAN in 1861. She was born in the same county and State in 1841. Their children are John W., Mary D., Hattie, William, Jesse, and baby. They are members of the U. B. Church. He owns eighty acres of land valued at $25 per acre. He enlisted in Co. C. 76th PA V. I., and mustered out at the close of war in 1865 in Harrisburg, PA. He went with Sherman on his march to the sea as far as Raleigh, NC, where his regiment was put on garrison duty. He was with Gen.
