GIBSON, HARDENBROOK, HUTSON

GIBSON, David; Farmer; Sec. 19; P. O. Peoria City; born in Pocohontas Co., Va., Sept. 2, 1819. He moved to Indiana in 1834, and thence to Iowa in 1864, and improved his farm and built good buildings, has a bearing orchard, etc., has 311 acres of land, valued at $35 per acre. Married Emily Ann HARDENBROOK in 1842. She was born in Ohio in 1824. Had ten children, eight living - John, Ralph, Samuel, Elsworth, Unis, Maggie, Juliet and Luretha; Loretta and Harris deceased. Mr. and Mrs. GIBSON are members of the Methodist Church; he is a Republican. His son John, married Mary V. HUTSON in 1866; she was born in Henry Co., Ind. in 1848. He has eighty acres of land in Polk Co. He enlisted in the 12th Ind. V. C. in Oct. 1863; served in the Army of the Tennessee and in Alabama, was in the battles of Mobile, Nashville and Murfreesboro, Spanish Fort and several small battles; was discharged with his regiment, July 31, 1865. Mr. GIBSON's father, John GIBSON, was a soldier in the war of 1812; his grandfather was in the Revolutionary war. ~ "The History of Jasper County" (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878), 600.
