COX, M.; Farmer; Sec. 4; P. O. Clyde; born in Tuscawaras Co., Ohio, May 2, 1837. Moved to this county in 1855. Enlisted in the 10th Iowa V. I. Aug. 22, 1861; received two slight wounds on the head; was in all the principal engagements with his regiment; was transposed to the Veteran Reserve Corps in November 1863; served eleven months, and was discharged at the close of the war with his regiment. Married Henrietta E. MANS in Iowa in 1858. Their children are Albert Briton, Emily Alice and Ida May. Mrs. COX died in 1866. Mr. COX married for his second wife Mrs. Eliza E. HARSH. They have three children - Harry M., Edward A. and R. T. Carl. Has 100 acres of land, valued at $2,500. Mr. COX followed for five years buying and shipping to Illinois dead hogs for soap making.
