STANLEY, WRIGHT, LYON, EDWARDS

STANLEY, Temple B.; Farmer, Sec. 2, P. O. Kellogg; born in Guilford Co., North Carolina, in 1802; located in this county in 1865; commenced life on a capital of natural ability, energy and determination, united to a pair of strong and willing arms. He worked for $5 a month, out of which he clothed himself, purchased books, and supplied his other necessities. In 1827, he married a poor young girl, Mary WRIGHT; she died in March of the same year. He married his second wife, Annie LYON, in the following Winter--being a bachelor, husband, widower and husband again all in one year; they have five children living-- Mary, Eliza A., Henry C., Oliver H. and Ann M. Mrs. STANLEY died in March, 1866. Married his third wife, Mrs. LINDSEY (EDWARDS) in 1866; she was born in Schoharie Co., N. Y., in 1821; she is a member of the M. E. Church; he is a Republican; owns 146 acres of land, valued at $40 per acre. ~ "The History of Jasper County" (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878), 550.
