Patrick and Catherine (Burke) McArdle arrived in Prairie Creek, Dubuque, Iowa, about 1849. They are in the 1860 census. Patrick McArdle was murdered in 1864 and was interred in the Holy Family Church cemetery on February 14, 1864. His wife Catherine pleaded guilty to the crime and was imprisoned in Jackson, Iowa, rather than hanged, as it was believed she was covering for one of her sons (Patrick). She was pardoned in 1868. I am looking for her death and burial place and her daughter's (Mary) marriage from about 1863. Catherine Burke was born in Tipperary, Ireland, in 1804. She was the daughter of Michael Burke and Catherine Mahan. Her parents are both buried in Sainte-Scholastique, Quebec, Canada. The family emigrated to Saint-Colomban, Quebec, prior to leaving for Iowa in 1849. Five of Patrick and Catherine's 10 children are buried in Saint-Colomban, Quebec. The others emigrated with them to Dubuque, Iowa, namely James, Mary, Patrick, and John. John ended up in Nebraska, but I have no trace of James, Mary, or Patrick. Any help would be appreciated!
