Georgann, Saw your inquiry and thought I would send you what I have for Rev. John Cummings.
John married Lorena D. Colcord on April 30, 1855 in Whiteside County, Ill. Lorena was the daughter of Ivory Colcord and Elzina Smith, both of which are buried in the Colcord Cemetery aka
West Genesee Cemetery in Coleta, Whiteside County, Illinois. As you probably know John also is buried in the Colcord Cemetery along with John and Lorena's son Edwin E. Cummings (B. June 9, 1858-Whiteside County, Ill D. Sept. 30, 1859-Whiteside County, Ill.)
My records show that John was born Dec. 17, 1831 in Ireland and died Jan. 2, 1863 in Whiteside County.
Lorena was the sister of my ancestress, Abigail Colcord who married Washington McKendric Law. After Abigail's death in 1861, Washington married Lorena on Oct. 18, 1865 in Whiteside County, Illinois. Washington and Lorena had 1 son Callen Hunter Law (B. Aug. 1868-Whiteside County, ILL.)
Lorena and Washington M. are both buried in the Fairmont Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. Lorena died Aug. 22, 1908 in Arapahoe County, Denver, Colorado.
I have not pursued research on Lorena and John's children so can't add much. I do, however, have quite a bit on Lorena's genealogy if you happen to want any of that info I'd be happy to share it with you.
Hope this has helped in some way.
Regards,
Rhea Gilbert
