Nettie Applegate Dies; Last Rites This Afternoon

Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie C. Applegate, 79, who died Sunday in Lanark, Ill., will be held this (Tuesday) afternoon at two o'clock in the Carson funeral home. The Rev. M. H. Nothdurft, pastor of the Maquoketa Methodist church, will officiate and burial will be made in Mt. Hope cemetery.

She was born Sept. 28, 1876, near Iron Hill, a daughter of William and Mary Ann Mitchell Spicer. Her husband, Riley E. Applegate, died in 1953.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Lister of near Emeline and Mrs. Edna Sweitzer of Lanark, Ill.; one son, Will of Emeline; and 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Her parents, one child, a brother and a sister preceded her in death.
