HONORED RESIDENT CALLED
Mrs. Helen M. Head, a life long resident of this county, whose maiden name was Helen M. McCard, passed from this earthly life to her everlasting life December 19th, at her home on North Eliza street at 6 a.m., aged 76 years, 11 months and 28 days, her sickness being one of short duration, being only one week from the time she was taken sick.
Helen M. McCard was born in Jackson county, December 21, 1848, having lived here practically all her life. She was united in marriage to Wm. A. Head April 29, 1876, who preceded her in death 30 years ago. To this union were born five children, of whom four are left to mourn their loss, three daughters, Mrs. Henry Sanger, Mrs. Frank Reiter, and Mrs. Fred Bradley, all of this city; one son, Frank H. Head of Bellevue, Ia.; one daughter having passed away in infancy. Two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Clary, and Mrs. Elvira Gorey, both of Graham, Mont.; also two brothers, John McCard of Junction City, Oregon, a twin brother, Henry McCard of Bellevue, Ia., and fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.
She was united with the M. E. church of this city a number of years ago. She was also a member of the Woman's Relief Corps.
Funeral services were held at the Esgate school house Monday, Dec. 21, with internment in Esgate cemetery, Rev. Dunlop officiating.
