De Moss.---Mary A. DeMoss was born in Brandon township, Jackson county, Iowa, April 14, 1846, and after a short illness died at her home on North Main St., March 10th, aged 63 years, 10 months and 26 days. Two nieces, Mrs. Dell Olmsted and Mrs F. M. Alden attended her during her last illness. She spent her young womanhood near Emeline and in 1888 came to Maquoketa where she resided until her decease. She cared for her aged father the last two years of his life in Maquoketa. She had a religious temperment and at one time was a member of the Advent church and later was inclined to Spiritualism. Four nephews and eight nieces and a few other relatives survive her. The floral offerings of friends and neighbors had a fine sense of human appreciation in them.

Funeral services were held from the home on North Main St. on Saturday, March 12th at 9:30 a.m., and burial in Hickory Grove cemetery two and a half miles northwest of Emeline, Rev. D. F. Boomershine officiating.
