Ronald D. Fowler

MAQUOKETA — Ronald D. Fowler, 71, of Maquoketa, died Monday at his home.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa, with the Rev. James Chappell officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa, with military honors accorded by American Legion Wapsie Post 473, Oxford Junction. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Lahey Funeral Home, Maquoketa.

He was born Aug. 8, 1934, in Oxford Junction to Harry B. and Elsie Petersen Fowler. He married Margaret Wallace on Aug. 18, 1962, in Anamosa.

He graduated from Oxford Junction High School in 1952. He also attended two years of college.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

He was a machine operator with the Harnischfeger Co., Cedar Rapids, for 15 years and Red Jacket, Davenport, for nine years before retiring in 1994.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa, and American Legion Wapsie Post 473, Oxford Junction.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Rhona Jean (Jude) Hanson-Haag of Olin; four sons, Patrick (Teresa) Fowler of Oxford Junction, James (Sheila) Fowler of Coal Valley, Ill., Phillip Fowler of Chicago and Daniel (Anne Marie) Fowler of Cheyenne, Wyo.; nine grandchildren; one sister, Alberta Wink of Oxford Junction; and one brother, Robert (Glenace) Fowler of Oxford Junction.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law.
