Preston- Mrs. Mary R. Kyarsgaard , 88, of Preston died at 5 p.m. Saturday in a Maquoketa nursing home. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Krabbenhoft-Miller funeral home. The Rev G.D.A. Englehardt of St. John's Lutheran church will officiate, and burial will be in the Sterling, Iowa cemetery.

Mary Rozena Yappen was born Oct 18,1877 at Sterling, to Cornelius and Christina Flor Yappen. She married Dale Kyarsgaard Dec 7, 1898. The couple farmed in the Sabula and Preston areas until retiring to Preston where Mr. Kyarsgaard died in 1960.
Survivors are four sons , John C. of Clinton, Louis of Maquoketa, Albert of Preston and Charles of Sabula; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two daughters, three grandchildren, her parents, a sister and two brothers.
