John Clausen was born April 2, 1834 in Bosherg, Luxemburg, Germany and died July 5, aged 74 years, 3 months and 3 days. He was married May 27, 1867, to Antoinette Portz at Spruce Creek church. He leaves a wife, four sons and four daughters, one brother and twenty-six grandchildren to mourn his departure from them.

The several children are as follows: Mrs. J. P. Wagoner, Mrs. John Lampe, Joseph and Chris of Bellevue, Mrs. J. C. Ernst of Ban???, Peter J. and Charley of Emmetsburg and May at home.

The funeral services over Mr. Clausen was held in the Catholic church of Bellevue, of which he was a member, at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Rev. Father Bles assisted by Father Vonternach and Father Knopstein, officiating. Requiem high mass was given. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery of Bellevue.

Mr. Clausen came to America in ???? coming to Wisconsin. From thence he came to Jackson county, in the vicinity of Bellevue, in 1861. Occupying himself at farming until ????, he retired, coming into Bellevue where he has made his home since. In Mr. Clausen Bellevue loses an industrious and respected citizen.

The children were all present, the four sons and two grandsons acting as pall-bearers.
