The community was greatly shocked and surprised Wednesday forenoon on learning of the death of Mrs. Martha E. Colman, one of Preston's most estimable and greatly beloved women. Mrs. Colman passed away Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock at her home a mile east of town. She was ill but a few brief hours being suddenly stricken during the night previous with neuralgia of the heart. The deceased was born in New York September 20, 1851 and died April 1, 1914. She was married in 1874 to P. T. Colman whose death occurred two years ago. She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Edna Reeger of Delmar, Fred of Cedar Rapids, Roy and Nina Colman at home. Also one brother and sister who reside at Maquoketa. The funeral was held Friday afternoon at the Congregational church, services conducted by Rev. Gray. Interment was made in the Preston cemetery.
