28 June 1915 - The Clinton Advertiser

Maquoketa, Ia. - Jolly jovial Ed Williams, a very prominent Knight of Pythias, passed away suddenly Saturday evening. His death caused a shock to the whole community. Although taken with hemorrhages of the stomach over two weeks ago, he had rallied and about half an hour before he was called he was sitting on the veranda talking to a friend in his humorous way, when he suddenly remarked that he was not feeling well and stepped inside. The friend went on down town and when he reached Lane and Buchner's undertaking establishment a telephone message had just reached them telling of his demise.

Mr. Williams was 56 years old Saturday, passing away on his birthday.

Maquoketa, Ia - Edward A. Williams was born at Hazel Green, Wis., June 26, 1859, and died on his birthday anniversary, June 25, 1915, aged fifty-six years. His former home was in Rockford, where he followed piano tuning as a vocation, and had engaged in this line of work since his residence here. He was united in marriage to Miss Dow, to which union four children were born, Earl of Rockford, Ill., Ross, who is a traveling salesman for a Minneapolis firm, and Edna and Donald at home, who with a heart-broken wife survive a loving husband and father. Three brothers and three sisters are also left to mourn their loss: Mrs. G. A. Liechy of Toledo; Mrs. Samuel Lanyon of Mineral Point, Wis.; Mrs. Parrish of Omaha; Wm. W. of Rockford, T. A. of Hazel Green, Wis., and R. L. of Mineral Point, Wis.

Mr. Williams came from Des Moines where he had been employed by a piano house, two weeks ago Saturday, and that evening suffered a hemorrhage of the stomach, causing considerable alarm, but he seemed to rally nicely and it was thought that medical treatment had conquered the trouble.
