Martin Haley Dies of Heart Attack

Martin Haley , 78, was found dead in his home , Monday noon by his son Gerald "Skippy", on his return from school for lunch . Dr. Sorenson was called and reported his death accured about an hour pervious due to a heart attack. He had been in ill heath the past year.
Mr Haley,son of Martin and Lydia (Dodson) Haley, was born in Sabula July 22 ,1875 and spent his entire life here. He married Miss Nettie Coon of Sabula in 1925
After more then 40 years service on the Chicago Millwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific railroad he retired in 1940 and pursued his hobby of gardening.
Surviovors are a daughter, Mrs. Clifton (LaVonne) Yappen , Maquoketa, four sons, Martin Jr. , Sabula, Donald F. with the air force in Newfoundland, James and Gerald at home, six grandchildren , two sisters, Mrs Sarah "Sadie" Snivley , Clinton and Mrs.Dick (Margaret) Meyers , Sabula.
Prededing him in death were his wife and son Kenneth, who were killed in an auto accident about three years ago, five brothers Jack, Matt and Bill Haley, two infants and a sister ,Mrs Mary " Kate" Scobey .
A rosary service was held in the Allen funeral home at 7:30 Wednesday evening. Funeral services were held this morning at 9:30 in St. Peter's Catholic Shurch, the Rev. Ivan Boyd officiating.
Pallbearers were Frank Geogersen(?), Phillip Brown, Clarence Kindred, Charles Mangler, Lawrence Bell and Robert Van Brocklin. Burial was in St. Peter's cemetery.
