Joan G. Miller, 92, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Saturday morning, July 2, 2022, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A private family graveside service and burial celebrating her life will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa. Cremation has taken place. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Joan Grace Elkins was born on June 7, 1930 in Iowa to Hamilton Dean and Cora (Nieland) Elkins. She was a graduate of Maquoketa High School. She married Donald Dean Miller on March 19, 1968 in Clinton County, Iowa.

Joan had worked as a bartender at various establishments and also at several retail clothing stores including Hamilton's Clothing, Fashion Crossroads, and Schublin's.

Joan enjoyed doing embroidery and spending time with her family.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Kathy (Dan) Hoeper of TX, Patricia Colson of Bettendorf, IA, Dennis (Jackie Duggan) Miller of Maquoketa, IA, Vicki (Owen) Bickford of Monmouth, IA, Kevin Miller of Davenport, IA, Vanessa (Joaquin) Fuentes of Germantown, MD, and Rebecca "Becki" Miller of Monmouth, IA; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald on November 28, 2021, brothers Paul Elkins and Howard Elkins, sister Arlene Ellis, and two grandchildren Michael Paul Bickford and Curtis Allen Bickford.
