Graveside services for Vern E. Said, 65, of 115 N. Otto St., Maquoketa, are scheduled to be held at 3:30 p.m. Thurs., Oct. 3 at the East Iron Hill Cemetery. Kenneth Dunn, presiding minister of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Fulton, will officiate. Services are being conducted by W.G. Carson and Son Funeral Home. Mr. Said died in his Maquoketa home Mon., Sept. 30.
Mr. Said was born Jan. 24, 1903, in Oelwein, the son of Walter and Ella (Hibbs) Said. He married Sylvia Teters May 16, 1928, in Maquoketa. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Maquoketa and was employed at Rose Farmer's Supply.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Wirth of Lost Nation, and Mrs. Delores Bendixen of Oxford Junction; four sons, Donald, Ronald and Gary Said, all of Maquoketa, and Rodney Said, stationed with the U.S. Army in Vietnam; and 19 grandchildren.
Mr. Said was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
There will be no visitation.
