OBITUARY.
Martha Elizabeth Heurmann was born at Peoria, Ill. November 1, 1871 and passed away at her home on W. Pleasant street in this city Wednesday evening at 10:10. She was united in marriage to Mr. Harry Geisler at Kansas City, Mo., April 30, 1906, and to this union were born three children, Carol, aged 13 years, Harold, aged 12 and Maurina, aged 9, who with their father survive. Besides these she leaves five sisters, Miss Lena Becker of Lafayette, Ind., Miss Bert Heurmann of Lafayette, Ind., Mrs. A. H. Scudder of Galesburg, Ill., Mrs. J. Dangelmaier of Kansas City and Miss Caroline Heurmann of Salt Lake City.
Mrs. Geisler came with her family to Maquoketa to live many years ago and during the time of her residence here she has left on all who came in contact with her the indelible impression of a rarely beautiful character. Self-sacrificing, self-abnegating was firm in her stand for right and truth, she left an enduring example of worthy Christian conduct. When illness came she endured it uncomplaining and the gold of an already pure character was refined in the furnace of affliction. In her death, her husband loses a patient wife and loyal helpmate, her children a loving and indulgent mother, ??? and mentor.
The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the home, Mrs. D. B. Marlowe of the First Church of Christ Scientist officiating. Committal services at the mausoleum at Mt. Hope cemetery were private.
