The Clinton Advertiser 03 Sep 1920

Bethel S. Farr, the son of Mr. and D. T. Farr, was born in Jordon, Ontario, Canada, April 9th, 1850. When he was but four years old the family came to Iowa and settled on the place which became known as the "Farr Farm" where he grew to manhood. After some time spent in travel and at various kind of work in different parts of the country, he returned to the home place where he lived until his death.
Some time ago a small growth appeared on his jaw, and after having had medical attention with no benefit, he went to Iowa City for an examination and there was told that the growth was of a malignant nature and that an operation should be performed at once. This was accordingly done but he was unable to stand the shock and passed away without having fully recovered from the effects of the anaesthetic. His death occurred Saturday, August 21, at the hospital in Iowa City.
Mr. Farr was a worthy example of that pioneer stock which gave Iowa the place she holds in the union today. He was a man of honor, with the highest sense of justice and right. He was the sort of man that one is proud to call a friend.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Candace M. Bowman, Villisca, Ia., and Mrs. Emma McDonald of this city and three brothers, Dr. H. S. Farr of Madrid, Ia., Edgar P. Farr, Sioux City and Chas. Farr of this city.
The funeral was held Thursday morning at 10:00 o'clock from the Chas. Farr home in the city. Rev. J. G. Morgan officiating, interment was made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
