Allan Duane Brown (1933-2020)

Allan Duane Brown Sr. 86, of Sabula, Iowa passed away on July 15th, 2020, after a very short illness. He was born in October 2nd, 1933, to George Dewey Brown and Millie Adelia (McKay) Brown in Olean, New York.

Allan attended Olean General High School in Olean, New York. Enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1950 and went to Korea during the Korean War. Honorably discharged in 1954 as Airman Third Class Allan D Brown Air Force 12 358 872 Regular Air Force. In 1955 he enlisted into the New York National Guard then in 1957 he was honorably discharge with the rank of National Guard 12 358 872 Sergeant E-5 Company B 174th Armed Infantry Battalion, New York National Guard

Allan is a Life Member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving in many offices such as, District 2 Commander in the Department of Iowa, Post Commander in VFW Post 5234 in Sabula, Iowa for a number of years. He also was a member of the Sabula, Iowa American Legion.
He spent most of his life as an over the road truck driver. Taking time out to be a Police Officer in various towns in Illinois and Iowa. He also served a short term with the Carrol County Sheriff’s Department in Mt. Carrol, Illinois.

He married his wife, Ardina Belle (Robertson) Brown on October 7th, 1972 in Sabula, Iowa where they spent the rest of their lives together.
Survived by his son Allan (Mindy Vegter) Brown of Fulton, IL, daughters Bunnie (Gary) Hake, Eugene, OR, and Laurie (Mike) Feuerstack, Mesa, AZ. Grandsons Robert Hake of Eugene, OR, and Jeremiah Brown of Fulton, IL, granddaughter Dodi (Chase) Pickett of Winston, OR, great-grandson Sebastian Brown, Fulton, IL, brothers George (Linda) Brown, and Robert Brown (wife deceased Rosemary), both of Olean, NY, and two sisters Millie (Pat) Piccirillo, Olean, NY, and Eva Brown, of Allegany, NY. He is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews: all of who will miss him terribly.

Predeceased by his wife of 47 years Ardina Belle (Robertson) Brown, granddaughter Heidi Marie Muller and grandson Wesley Norman Muller III, parents, Millie McKay MacDonald, and George D. Brown Sr., and siblings Edna and Virginia.

A private funeral is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 25th, 2020, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna, IL.
Military rites will be conducted by VFW and American Legion.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Sabula, Iowa
